The Seniors Outreach Caring Cars Volunteer Driver Program is a vital community service that helps seniors and other vulnerable residents access safe, reliable, and affordable transportation. Modeled on successful volunteer driver initiatives across Alberta, Caring Cars connects volunteer drivers with clients who need rides to essential appointments, services, and community events.

Transportation between communities has long been a recognized need in Kneehill County and surrounding areas, particularly with the loss of commercial bus services. Yet, operating a full transportation system can cost millions annually—well beyond the resources of most rural nonprofits. By building local volunteer capacity, the Caring Cars Program provides a not-for-profit rideshare service that is both cost-effective and community-driven.

Volunteer Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and experience the reward of making a direct difference in someone’s life. Riders benefit from peace of mind, knowing that their driver has been screened, trained, and is committed to providing safe, friendly, and trustworthy transportation.
